After agreeing to terms last week with Diego Lopez’s agent, AC Milan and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the goalkeeper that will see the player join the Rossoneri. Diego had already passed the medical with the club. Now the move has been confirmed by Real Madrid as well after he signed the contract.

Statement on the Real Madrid website said:

Real Madrid CF and AC Milan have arrived at an agreement for the transfer of Diego Lopez. The club want to express its appreciation for the dedication and professionalism shown, and wish him luck in his new career.

Statement on the AC Milan website courtesy Adriano Galliani said:

I don’t want to take the credit because that’s not my style, but the easy-going nature of our rapport with Real Madrid, the friendship, I believe facilitated the move. We had asked Carlo Ancelotti what Lopez was like, and we also inquired with Villiam Vecchi because he had coached him and nobody knows his strengths more than Vecchi – who is convinced he is a great goalkeeper. Today Daniele Tognaccini was pleased about Lopez’s medical and athletic tests.

Wish Diego the best of luck at Milan!
