Real Madrid began their pre-season in the United States with a 3-2 penalty loss after drawing 1-1 at the end of full time against Inter Milan.

Los Blancos took the lead, a deserved one, thanks to a Gareth Bale thunerbolt in the tenth minute. The Welshman found some space in the centre of the pitch and he unleashed a fiercely hit left footed shot which was too tricky for Samir Handanovic to figure.

As the game progressed, the tempers flared too with Raul de Tomas, Dani Carvajal, Andrea Ranocchia and Dodo clashing on multiple instances. All four of them saw yellow cards, as did Alvaro Medran and Yann M’Vila.

Real Madrid were the better of the two sides in the first half but the tide shifted in the second half as Inter created many chances and got their reward in the 68th minute. Ruben Sobrino impeded Nemanja Vidic from leaping thereby forcing the referee to point to the spot. Icardi stepped up and made no mistake.

Later on, Jesus Fernandez ensured the game went into penalties after a fantastic double-save to deny Vidic and Andreolli.

Penalties:

Isco (missed; 0-0); Vidic (scored; 0-1); Lucas Vasquez (scored; 1-1); Nagatomo (missed; 1-1); Nacho (scored; 2-1); M’Villa (missed; 2-1); Illarramendi (missed; 2-1); Juan Jesus (scored; 2-2); Omar Mascarell (missed; 2-2); Icardi (scored; 2-3)

Group A: Real Madrid bag one point while Inter Milan get two points.
