In the build-up to the first game of the league season, Carlo Ancelotti cleared future of two players by saying Angel Di Maria is leaving and has said his good bye’s while Sami Khedira is staying with the club and is happy to.

Key points from press conference:

Di Maria: He came for the training but did not train. His move out is not official yet but it is close to its end. He came to say his goodbye’s. We’ve thanked him for what he’s done for the team and wished him luck for the future. It is solved, it is not official, but it is solved.

Exit of Di Maria: I have good relations with him. It was his decision, the club did all it could to keep him here. He has decided otherwise, then we wish him good luck.

Khedira: He’s staying. It is all clear. We have a very important player in the squad and that is Khedira. He’s happy and we’re happy with him.

Cristiano: Pre-season wasn’t regular for him. He needs individual work. He’s trained well and is available to play tomorrow. There is no problem. We have a week to train and he will be good to do some specific work.

Midfield: The midfield is well covered if Di Maria leaves. We have Isco and James, but we can also play Khedira, Alonso, Modric and Kroos in his position. The new players improve the squad by bring in enthusiasm and much quality.

La Liga: We have wanted to win in the season from the start and we look forward to it. We will fight for this league, we were close last year but lacked energy. It is a difficult league because there are many great teams fighting to win.

Atletico Madrid in Supercopa: We’ve played two games against a very solid and very strong team. We were looking to be quick, but we lost. But I think this team will have no problems scoring.

Goalkeepers: I will not say who will start in goal and that’s that.
