In the press conference today as a build-up to the first leg of Spanish Supercopa against Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti stated the club will start with Iker Casillas in goal, just like he did in the European Super Cup against Sevilla.

There will be a fantastic atmosphere at the Bernabeu because it is a derby and our fans will help us. There are no favourites for this tie. It will be a two legged tie, of 180 minutes, and we have to prepare well. The first leg will not be decisive but we will try to take the advantage with a good game.

Iker Casillas’ starting role in Supercopa and la Liga? Iker will play tomorrow. He is training and has the confidence of everyone. Then we will see…

Will the goalkeeper change on Friday (for the second leg)? I don’t know. I’m not thinking about the game on Friday.

Angel Di Maria? Angel Di Maria is available as are all others. He can start the game and has chances, like others. Tomorrow there will be one team and on Friday another.

Will Xabi Alonso play? I will not say the lineup for various reasons. Even the players haven’t been told yet. I prefer to speak to them first.

Atletico Madrid? I think Atletico Madrid have changed a little. They’ve signed important players but their playing style hasn’t changed. As always, they will be difficult opponents, as it was last year.

Favourites for the Supercopa? It is hard to say because we’re still in pre-season. The real season hasn’t begun so we don’t know how the teams are physically and who is better. There is no favourite.

Toni Kroos was exceptional in the UEFA Super Cup. How do you see James Rodriguez making a difference, seems like he’s adapted lesser: I think James did well as others did against Sevilla, changed his habitual position and played a little bit behind. He will get accustomed to it. We’re trying in that position but can play others too. The problem is that he has to get accustomed to playing a bit behind.

What sporting decision led to the choice between Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas? Diego Lopez decided to go. He wasn’t sent out. There is no sporting relation with it. Last year we had two good goalkeepers and this year we have good goalkeepers.

Thought of changing the system? In the midfield the the positioning has to be more dynamic. While it is closer to the players in the centre, need to have tactical speed and move the ball quicker and with much more judicious use. I am not thinking of changing the system, we are going to continue with the system we had last year. You can change something for a game but only for a few moments in the match. The idea will be same as last year.

Do you relate the case of Di Maria to that of Mesut Ozil? I don’t remember that of Ozil, I will not get into this topic because I lose concentration that I have. I don’t know what he’s decided. He’s ready to play and he can help us. Until 31st August, he is part of this squad. If he stays or go, everything will return to normal.

On Toni Kroos: He adds more quality, effective possession and verticality in the play, his knowledge and experience on the pitch helps the team.
