Real Madrid are leading Sevilla by 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu for their second noon kickoff in La Liga this season. Cristiano Ronaldo with the solitary goal, his 43rd in La Liga and 57th overall.
There has been a flurry of attacks from both sides but neither have been able to score from those chances. Cristiano also managed to hit the post from an indirect free kick inside the box having been played on by Xabi Alonso.
Sevilla on the other side have been able to get behind the Real Madrid defence with ease on more than one occasion with Jose Antonio Reyes being the instigator. He played the pass for Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo but neither of them scored from their one on one opportunity.
Sevilla had a goal ruled out early in the game when referee adjudged Negredo to have fouled inside the Real Madrid box but TV replays suggested it was a rather soft one.
Real Madrid have been quick on their counter attacking movements as well with Benzema, Ozil and Di Maria all coming close.
Before the start of the game, Real Madrid players wore “Animo Canales” shirts to show support for Sergio Canales who is out for 6 months due to a twisted knee. Fans also supported the players with a banner reading – “With you in good times and bad times” to reflect how far the fans have come from the handkerchief waving a few seasons ago.
