Lass Diarra is closest to joining Manchester United than any other potential suitors in Juventus, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal say sources close to the club. It is further believed that personal agreement has been reached with only the clubs yet to agree on the fee.

Lass was not taken on Real Madrid’s tour to United States and while in Madrid, he reported late to practice. Worst situation happened today when the Frenchman failed to report to practice as the squad practiced at Valdebebas.

This is ironic given the player’s agent last month said he was happy at Real Madrid.

Manchester United would be happy with the deal as well because Paul Scholes retired at the end of the season with no one having filled his boots as yet. Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder has widely been reported as the replacement but the fee has been the potential deal breaker so far.

In Lass’ case, Real Madrid are expecting near to €18m while Manchester United would be willing to pay €11m at best. It would be interesting to see how it pans out.
