Today we have Ryan from Twitter (must follow BTW!). A Madridista who knows a lot about the club and loves to discuss it.
Tanuj : First up, tell us about you.
Ryan : I’m Ryan, born and raised in France, in the South (Montpellier) and I’m 24 years old. I’m currently a sports student (in coaching more precisly) and well… I love football.
T : Since when have you been a Real Madrid fan? (if you happen to remember)
R : It goes back to the times of Redondo, around 97-98 I think. My step father was a Real Madrid fan since several years and in this season he decided to subscribe to see all the games at home, so I was watching with him and I developed affection for the white jersey. It did help that the team was playing pretty well at the time, of course.
T : What is your favourite part of Real Madrid football club?
R : It’s the 1998-2002 period, no doubt for me. It was a time where you knew every year that Madrid had the power and the means to win everything. We won La Liga of course, but the biggest achievement was winning the UEFA Champions League 3 times in 5 years. Specially with different coaches, squads and tactics. If you look closer to those 3 finals, you will see that we played differently in all of them. 98 was a 4-3-3, 2000 was 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2) and 2002 was 4-1-3-2. THAT, above all, is impressive.
T : A Real Madrid moment you can’t forget?
R : Many things in my head right now but if i had to choose, it probably would be the goal from Zidane against Bayer Leverkusen. The most amazing move i ever seen in the highest level of a competition. Simply genius.
T : La Liga or UCL, which one would you love to see us win more?
R : Both of course ! But seriously, i miss more the UCL, it’s been almost 10 years and when you witnessed 3 UCL won in 5 years you can’t forgot about it. You just want to win it every year.
T : Which has been your favourite signing for this season? (excluding Mourinho)
R : Few weeks ago i would have probably said Carvalho but right now i’d pick Ozil. He is amazing. The way he mooves between the lines and the way he drives the ball is simply stunning. I love him.
T :Which game did you most enjoy this season?
R : Real Madrid – Villareal. It was good to see a team causing us trouble At the Bernabeu in the first half and forcing Mou and the players to level up. The second half was a chess game and a brilliant collective effort to get the final victory. I enjoyed it a lot.
