Today we have Bassam Dgheim of Real Madrid Offside to discuss his love and admiration of Real Madrid. Another Real Madrid Offside writer – Kaushik Lakshman was interviewed earlier on in this section.

Tanuj : First up, tell us about you.
Bassam : Hey my name is Bassam Dgheim. I am 21 years old. I am one of the four writers at the Real Madrid offside. I moved to the United states (california to be exact) 2 years ago having lived all my life in the middle east (Lebanon).

T : Since when have you been a Real Madrid fan? (if you happen to remember)
B : I have been following Real Madrid for some time now. Probably around 11 years. The first couple of years were foggy due to my age, but a good friend of mine got me a Real Madrid glory days DVD that explained Real Madrids seasons from 1995 till 2005. It helped add to my knowledge about those days.

T : What is your favourite part of Real Madrid football club?
B : Whats not to love? Well there is a lot not to love right now lol. I particularly love the passion of the fans especially when it comes to el clasico and the derby. Plus what got me in love with this team is the style of football they used to play. Truly amazing. Direct, fast and attacking.

T : Which has been your all time favourite Real Madrid player?
B : I think Casillas wins this hands down. I still remember when he came on as a sub in the champions league final. Epic. Zidane is a legend and i consider him up there with the best. If you follow the my blog, you will see im a Granero and Pipita fan boy.

T : A Real Madrid moment you can’t forget?
B : I have two. The last day win of La Liga in 2006 and the guard of honor. Both unforgettable.

T : La Liga or UCL, which one would you love to see us win more?
B : Tough one i must say. I would go with CL because it is something that has become the a curse for Real Madrid and winning this trophy will bring back the stability the team urns for.

T : Which has been your favourite signing for this season? (excluding Mourinho)
B : Lol @ excluding Mourinho. Ozil and Di Maria have impressed me. I think Ozil with time can be great. My vote will go to Carvalho. He has been really solid at the back and for us to win anything we need a solid back line.

T :Which game did you most enjoy this season?
B : There has been some really enjoyable games. I’m torn between the Game that Sarabia got to play or the one that Morata got to play. I will go with the one that Sarabia got to play for a couple of reasons. The display was really nice, Benzema scored some really nifty goals, Sarabia, one of my favorite Cantera player got to play and impress and it showed that even without a full squad we can win.
