In the draw conducted today, Real Madrid were placed in Group D of 2011/12’s UEFA Champions League competition. Along with them other three teams vying for the spot to go to the knockout stages would be Ajax (Netherlands), Lyon (France) and Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia). Only two teams from the group stages would make it to the knockout stages.

Group D : Real Madrid, Ajax, Lyon, Dinamo Zagreb

The campaign starts off on 14th September as the team travels to the Stadion Maksimir in what would be a difficult start to European football.

The first home game comes against Ajax on 27th September with the Dutch side visiting the Bernabeu.

Call it luck, call it fate or call it sheer nonsense but we will be facing Lyon ONCE AGAIN! Not going to dwell on the French side at this juncture but you know how frustrating they can be.

Ajax are also repeat opponents from last year. (Trip to Amsterdam Arena for Ramos and Alonso could be fun! Watch this video if you’re not sure what am talking about)

The fixtures list is up here and will be updated with full time scores and match report links (whenever possible). Hala Madrid!
