Real Madrid visited Albanian capital, Tirana as part of the charity to raise funds for the flood victims in north of Albania. The match provided little inspiration for the players other than continuing their fitness level and to get the match practice and team building going. As per a source, Real Madrid charged 2.5 million euros as appearance fees so the proceeds is a vague concept here.
The game however couldn’t have started off worse for Real Madrid. We were down by a goal from Gramozi Erseke’s, Xhafa JC in as little as one minute. A little soft goal to concede as a deflected header meant the ball went above Dudek’s hands. Gramozi 1-0 Real Madrid
There were many chances which fell to Raul and Kaka to equalise but proved to be a tad difficult to ensure parity. This despite the dominance from the Whites in terms of possession and chances. Equaliser did arrive in the 36th minute through Kaka’s diving header supplied splendidly by Ronaldo which came in between two defenders and players on the near post. Gramozi 1-1 Real Madrid
The crucial point of the match and the most talked about was after the teams went into the dressing room at half time. There was a power outage in the entire city which caused complete blackout in the stadium thus resulting in the second half resuming ninety minutes late. There have been reports that the Albanian football federation sacked the stadium director for the embarrassment that it caused.
Second half continued as the first with Los Blancos dominating and the Albanian side trying desperately not to concede a second. However, their efforts went in vain when Guti supplied a sublime cross for Benzema to score from in the box in the 81st minute. Gramozi 1-2 Real Madrid
This is how the game finished thus ensuring Real Madrid and captain Raul lift the Taci Oil Cup in its third edition. Definitely one of the many trophies to come to fill the Santiago Bernabeu cabinet.
