Adan, Morata and Sarabia were called into the squad for the dead game against Auxerre in mid week. Adan and Sarabia were lucky to get the chance to showcase their talent while sadly, Morata had to stay on the bench.
Adan came on in the late stages of the first half with Dudek going out due to an injury to his face. Contrary to Dudek’s first half which really brought out the best from the Polish goalkeeper where he made two sensational saves to maintain the clean sheet, Adan barely had anything to do. The clips below are from his two saves in the whole of second half. The first save came in the 57th minute which was comfortable enough for the now senior squad member to make. The second save however was more tricky as he was facing an on running player but did well to make himself big and spread himself well to make a comfortable save in the end. Overall, Adan didn’t have much to do but the opportunity to get on the field (albeit in bad circumstances) would have really helped boost his confidence.

The truth is that it was a shame debut for injury to a companion. Especially as Dudek was making a great game. During the break I talked to Iker. He said that he was calm and was ready for it. These words of the best goalkeeper in the world left me very happy. This year we are giving opportunities(to youngsters). Today debuted another partner (Sarabia) and many players are training with the first team as usual.
Pablo Sarabia, member of the Real Madrid Castilla, hadn’t made in-roads into training with the senior squad but with a day or two before the game he prepared with the senior squad for the Auxerre game. And boy did he prove to be a sensational substitute. Even though he didn’t provide any killer balls or score any goals but just his presence on the wing and the trickery was enough to charm many (including myself!). His touches were good and he had the awareness of his team mates. He stuck to the left touchline in almost all of the attacks he was part of which would help us use the entire width of the pitch if need be. Tricks to get around the defender and the backheel for Benzema make for some beautiful repeated watching.

Debuting was incredible; a wonderful event during which I was surrounded by teammates. It was a very special match. I tried a variety of things and I felt very comfortable. Cristiano and the entire coaching staff wished me good luck. When I took the pitch it was like any other match. My debut is a biproduct of hard work by the youth team. I have worked alongside Alvaro Morata for many years and we came out of the same school. Adan and Morata are more than capable of playing for the first team. We we get our chance we cannot let such an opportunity slip through our fingers.
What did everyone make of Sarabia and Adan?
